You might not have been able to figure out the next Be Good Be Social venue from the photograph on the homepage slider but the logo above is a less subtle hint.

I spent a while looking at suitable venues – as well as being an inspiring space I was keen that whoever hosted the next #BeGoodBeSocial really go it, they had to be part of the Scottish third sector social media conversation; which is why The Melting Pot was perfect for the first event. So after much deliberation we went for The Big Lottery Scotland HQ which is slap bang in the centre of Glasgow, minutes from Central Station.  The views from BIG HQ across the River Clyde looking towards the Science Centre are stunning and the facilities are world-class.

For those of you who don’t know much about BIG, they’re the largest of all the lottery distributors, and invest over a million pounds of new funding in Scotland every week. In Scotland, over 90 percent of their funding is awarded to voluntary and community sector organisations. In a nut-shell BIG is all about bringing real improvements to communities, and to the lives of people most in need all across the UK.

John Fellows, Head of Marketing and Communications at The Big Lottery Scotland, has been a suporter of Be Good Be Social since the beginning:

“The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) is delighted to be able to support this #BeGoodBeSocial event. Social media channels like Twitter and Facebook give BIG an opportunity to have a proper conversation with our customers, stakeholders and the public about our shared aspirations, which is essential to helping us meet our goal of helping communities and individuals most in need.

#BeGoodBeSocial has already become an integral part in helping Scotland’s third sector develop its use of social media, and so we look forward to being involved in what we know will be an inspirational, educational and enjoyable event.”

So hopefully I’ll meet lots of previous #BeGoodBeSocial attendees and plenty of new faces at BIG HQ on 7th April 2011 (6-9pm). We’ll have more info on the headline sponsor, speakers and how you can get a ticket soon.
